This was the perfect time to remove Rumsfeld. It was wise to wait and see if the Republicans could pull off a win, but in the absence of that, getting rid of him now means the Democrats can’t blame him for their continuation of the bloodbath in Iraq.

I don’t buy the argument that getting rid of Rumsfeld could have prevented this. The scandal and lack of vision generally was way too strong for shitcanning Rumsfeld to overcome.
L0c0. as if it will make any difference, I doubt. I think most people including myself are somewhat glad hes gone because he has become a distraction deserved or not. And it may well not make that much difference, but hell I am glad he is gone.
