If I produce software, it’s mine. I can use it however I want and I don’t have to tell anyone about it, much less how it works. BUT when I go sell a disc containing that software, I shouldn’t be able to dictate how someone else uses that disc - even if they decide to produce their own identical discs.
Today I dont know of many software programs worth 5k, but you can buy autocad and adobe and all kinds of stuff for very cheap still, its just hidden better.
What if that software’s function is to pirate other people’s copyrighted works?
do they make software with cries for help built in? if you bootleg a copy it calls for help the next time you log on?
The fact that it took me a year to produce that disc and it takes someone else 30 seconds is irrelevant.
My brother wa sin a shop in china and he said he was lookign for something, and someone said, please come here (He wasnt looking for bootleg) And some guy took him on circuitous route to another building where a door opened and inside was every software program you could think of.

Cathy, it doesn’t matter what it is. You write a song or software or a book… It’s yours UNTIL you share it. Now if someone else wants to copy it, fine. You shared it. The only limitation would be if the purchaser agreed in a contract that they would not share it.

Cathy, I’ve never ripped a disc and uploaded it. The notice on the disc says I can’t do so. The same isn’t true for mp3s on the net. There’s no such notice.
