Business group the CBI has called on the government to slow the rate of minimum wage increases. The legal wage minimum rises by 25p to £5.35 an hour on 1 October but a big hike in 2007 would hurt business and boost the black economy, the CBI said.

The standard French working week is 35 hours, having been reduced from 39 hours. The statutory provisions are set out in articles L.212-1 et seq. of the French Employment Code. Ok seriously if I came to work 7 hours a day. An hour to get into it and 30 minutes to prepare to go home, I would get about 5 hours work done.. It would be better to have 4 9 hour days than 5-7 But then thats probably why frances economy sucks Employees may not waive their rights under the statutory provisions by contract.
